SHE’S GOT THIS
-
Grace brings a wealth of experience across various genres, from cutting edge drama to classic operettas, political commentary and experimental theater. She is able to work in a variety of artistic styles and messages.
-
Her success with unified theatrical processes hinges on clear, assertive communication. Whether it's coordinating teams or conveying the vision, Grace ensures seamless collaboration and understanding of ideas.
-
A place for everything and everything in its place. From tracking notes to following up on designer questions, it is imperative to follow through every step of the process and find resources easily. Proper and diligent organization allows the logistics to fuel your creativity, rather than stifle it.
-
Grace is excited by trying new ideas, mediums, and concepts. There’s a new monologue for the lead? Let’s get it on its feet and see if it works with what we have so far. Curious if the female lead should be in pants or a skirt? She’d love to see a sketch of both and chat about what tells the story most effectively. Whether it be a memory play, lyrical piece, or slapstick farce, Grace is capable and willing to try it all, encompassing the production timeline and overall goals.

I had no idea who Grace Cutler was when she first reached out—but from the moment she contacted me, I knew she was different. Without a formal job posting, Grace found a Playbill casting notice for dancers, did her own research, figured out I was directing the project, and sent me a smart, thoughtful, and highly personalized email asking to be considered as Assistant Director. She knew the history of the show, understood its creative ambitions, and made a compelling case for why she should be involved—not just to gain experience, but because the piece genuinely spoke to her.
Her instincts were flawless—and her work exceeded every expectation.
From day one, Grace was three steps ahead. She anticipated every need, had materials prepped before I even asked, managed real-time script and blocking changes with ease, and juggled endless revisions and logistical challenges without ever losing her cool. Her work ethic is superhuman: she regularly put in 14- to 16-hour days with zero complaint and constant professionalism. More than that—she was a true partner. As a director, I always felt supported, organized, and empowered with Grace at my side.
I truly could not have directed Avalona: A Musical Legend—or its remount, two completely different productions—without her. When the show was extended and I had to leave, I had zero hesitation in recommending Grace to take over as Associate Director. The producers agreed, and she absolutely delivered.
I was so confident in her skills and professionalism that I personally introduced her to Michael Greif, one of the most respected directors in American theatre today—because I believe Grace is ready for that level of work now.
Grace is smart, resourceful, hilarious, endlessly cheerful, and wildly capable. She is exactly who you want in the room. I recommend her without reservation—and frankly, you’d be lucky to have her.
